Homemade yeast free cinnamon rolls!!

So I have started to be quite the homemaker recently! Thanks mostly to pinterest none of it is really me at all! But I have been making some crazy delicious and easy recipes and I have decided to share some of them. This cooking thing has become something that I really really enjoy! And I have always loved delicious food so here we go!

Filling:
• 3/4 cup of packed brown sugar
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 1 tablespoon cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 2 tablespoons of melted butter
• mix well with a fork and set aside.

Dough:
• 2 1/2 cups of flour
• 1/4 cup of sugar
• 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon of salt
• 1 cup of butter milk
• 4 tablespoons of melted butter
• mix with spoon just until the dough comes together. If you mix to much the cinnamon rolls will be hard. Kneed the dough with hands and divide into two halves. Don't be afraid to use more flour to stop the sticking.

• roll out the dough into a rectangle just a bit bigger than a piece of paper. Fill with half of your cinnamon mixture and leave the sides of the dough clean about a 1/4 of an inch around all sides. Then roll up like a huge sausage, pinch the seams shut and cut your roll into eight pieces. Repeat with other half. Put your pieces in an 8 X 11 dish. Make sure to spray it with non stick spray!
• melt one more table spoon of butter and brush the tops of your cinnamon rolls.
• put in the oven( pre heated to 425) for 15 minutes or until golden brown on top.

Icing:
• 3 ounces of softened cream cheese
• 1 cup of powdered sugar
• 4 tablespoons of buttermilk
• mix together cream cheese and powdered sugar till smooth.
• add the buttermilk one table spoon at a time until creamy.
• pour over hot cinnamon rolls and smooth evenly.
• stick them in the freezer for five minutes and voila! Enjoy yummy deliciousness!!

Now I apologize for my horrible pictures! This was kind of a spur of the moment thing. And they didn't turn out as pretty as I wanted them but they taste delicious nonetheless!

Childlike once more!!

Today, my Sophi and I had macaroni and cheese for lunch! It was delicious and cheesy and we loved it! But all I could think about was how before she came bursting into my husband and my life I was wishing that I could be a little kid again and do kid things, eat kid things, and play like a kid again!! Well here it is folks the double wammie!! I get to do all of it again!!! Yay!! But now I mostly think about what it would be like to be able to do grown up things all the time!! What is this I thought I was doing what I wanted!! But I guess we are never fully satisfied until we achieve the opposite of what we want...

Now I sit here typing and daydreaming about what it would be like to go out to romantic dinners and spend a whole day in CLEAN clothes! No boogers, no remnants of previous meals, no questionable stains or spots you don't remember getting! Don't get me wrong being a mommy to my sweet Sophi is the best and I enjoy every minute even when I am tempted to rip my hair out from hearing "momma momma!!" thousands of times a day!

Potty Training

Sophi has decided that she is ready to potty train! this is exciting seeing as she is only 16 months old! She has been going very well on the potty for the past week unfortunately that didnt last because we have recently reached a stand still in her training...

"Yesterday as i was getting Sophi undressed to go pee pee in her potty,
(she likes to be completely stark butt naked. She can't even wear socks!)  she sat down and looked like she was ready to go. she suddenly stands up and slams the lid down on her potty and climbs on top of it. i was sitting on the toilet watching her slightly amused, when she starts screaming "pee pee" and she starts peeing on me and on her potty and all over the floor! she starts giggling and runs naked into the front room....needless to say i will no longer be asking her if she wants to go pee pee on her potty...it will be rephrased to "go pee pee IN her potty."

I am woman!!

God said" 24 hours should be good! They will have so much time they won't know what to do with themselves!" but as he is a man.... He was wrong because add children and there are NEVER enough hours in the day! I only have one kid. So to those who have five or six etc.... Heaven help you! What were you thinking?!?! Obviously you were only thinking of the pleasure that comes with making children and not the actual out come.( sorry to some of my more conservative friends but... If your really my friend you wouldn't get offended and just come to expect this of me) I have never been an extremely organized person... My husband knew this when he married me yet he still gets annoyed when the house is in shambles when he gets home. But with sophi... It's hold her and clean with one hand or clean while she is napping which is never the same amount in a day it's either one hour to maybe an hour and a half.
Now that that is all out of the way let's get down to what it means to be all that is woman... To me women are not those big breasted women with perfect skin and size zero jeans. The ones with their hair always done and their makeup applied perfectly everyday. Because what have their perfectly manicured fingers ever do? Have they ever scrubbed poop off the carpet because their child decided to smear her diaper and then walk in it? No.. They haven't. Have they ever dared to go to the grocery store in an oversized t-shirt and jeans with their hair quickly thrown into a ponytail? Again.. No they have not! Those are the real women people! The real women out there are the ones you see with bags under their eyes. The ones who are wrestling with their children in public because if they don't they can't get anything done! And I am proud to say that I am one of those women! So REAL women of the world stand up and say " I am woman because I don't always get a shower and I still go out in public!!"

Battle wounds

There are some instances when you acquire battle wounds on a daily basis from your figt against life! Those are figurative wounds! I suffer from different battle wounds... I suffer from "I have a very ACTIVE eight and a half month old" battle wounds. For example this morning I was trying to get sophi down for a nap so I could take a shower and get ready for the day. When next thing I know she screams and slams her head against my face and gives me a bloody lip!! Which started swelling and looked like I a growth sticking out of my face... not attractive.
And only a little while later did she try to claw my eyeballs out and rip the hairs from my head! Oh the joys of being a mother....

Mommy story

Ok...so I have decided that being a mom is an adventure!! But the biggest adventures are the ones you do not plan. Like walking through a grocery store with a sock sticking out of your pocket because you didnt realize you were still holding it! Or crawling on the floor holding baby wipes chasing a naked butt because your trying to change the diaper of an eight month old who doesn't want to be changed!! I never thought that would be my life! But I have imbraced it. I look forward to the moments of scrubbing puke off the carpet, and picking up everything only to have it messed up right behind you... Because I get to spend my days with the most beautiful little girl in the world!

Our Story

Matt and I met a very long time ago! we were in second grade and we hated each other from the very first moment we saw each other. through the years we tried to ignore each other and secretly harbor nasty feelings toward each other. We found out that we had a "friend" in common my cousin who i didnt like very much either...would tell me that matt hated me and in return i told my cousin that i hated matt. So.. to make a long long long story short! we started dating in tenth grade and dated all through high school. matt proposed right after graduation, and 364 days later... we were married on July 10th, 2010 in the Mt. Timpanogas Temple.
It was the best day ever! after waiting nearly a year!! :) we were able to be sealed and together for eternity!! we were drunk on happiness we enjoyed our honeymoon and marriage was amazing and then....Two weeks later we found out that i was pregnant! I had gone to the doctors at the request of my family who wanted to know why i was bloated and why my blood pressure was high and my feet were the size of baby whale. and they came back and said that i was pregnant and that i was right there at the beginning, so I needed to go see an OB/GYN as soon as i could. When i went in to the doctor the nurse told me i was going to have an ultrasound to get my exact due date....well we got my due date! it was two weeks from that date!! i was 38 weeks pregnant!! and i was having a girl!!
sooo......my sweet Sophi Ahlivia Gordon was born on August 26th 2010 she is the light of our lives and the last eight months have been quite the adventure!
